Our Vision

Years ago, everyone had a connection to a farm. Whether it was visiting grandparents in the country or spending the summer on a friend’s ranch, even urban residents had ample opportunities to connect with agriculture. Today, it is a different story. The average American is now at least three generations removed from the farm. In fact, farm and ranch families make up less than 2 percent of the U.S. population. Because of this disconnect between farmers and the non-farm public, there are countless misconceptions about why farmers do what they do. Without real conversations about the how and why behind modern agriculture, these false impressions will only continue to grow. 

Imagine a place where farmers and consumers could connect. A real-working farm, designed to allow its guests to “see for themselves.” A place where children and adults can experience the sights, smells, and sounds of farm-life. A farm that engages in modern practices, because agriculture isn’t the same as it was when our grandparents raised a few animals in the country. Acres of Adventure strives to be the place. It is opening the door to such conversations and helping address consumer concerns by providing a real means for the general public to interact with present-day farming practices. Acres of Adventure provides samples of today’s agriculture while also shaping the farmer and consumer dialogue with accurate information. It is the hope that we start conversations to help address the growing misconceptions that come naturally from a disconnect with farming. 

Acres of Adventure realizes that intertwined with agricultural education, there is a natural connection with the outdoors. Guests can come to the farm and enjoy nature at the same time. Whether taking a paddle boat for a cruise across the pond or exploring the woods, everyone can benefit from less time indoors. And, let’s not forget about the opportunities to develop stronger leaders. Some times the best learning occurs out of the classroom; we can help strengthen teams and ultimately communities.
